About the role
As a Sr Opto-mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the complete opto-mechanical design process within KLA's Global Products Group, which creates metrology and inspection products.
What you'll do
- Drive design from requirements specification, feasibility studies, conceptual and detailed design, build, and release to manufacturing.
- Generate detailed models and drawings using 3D solid modeling (Creo).
- Conduct various analyses, such as fluid, thermal, and vibrational, through both hand calculations and FEA modeling.
- Understand and use Geometric Tolerancing (GD&T) and perform detailed tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Participate in and lead design reviews to obtain a peer-oriented design assessment throughout the design process.
- Procure, assemble, and test prototype material, supporting system integration and testing.
What you'll need
- Minimum 3 years work experience in 3D solid modeling.
- Minimum 1 year work experience in FEA, GD&T.
- Strong background in the design of mechanisms.
- Basic understanding of optical subsystems.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding fabrication, and castings.
Nice to have
- Experience with low stress and high stability opto-mechanical and precision mechanism design.
- Experience with design for functionality in ultra-clean environments, including in vacuum.
- Experience with precision stage and actuation/adjustment design.
