About the role
AMD is hiring a senior engineering leader to define, build, and scale a portfolio of developer SDKs across video analytics, real-time sensor processing dataflow and runtime, and distributed compute/communication middleware. The role oversees end-to-end SDK strategy and performance entitlement across AMD CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs.
What you'll do
- Define the end-to-end SDK architecture for video analytics pipelines, graph runtimes, real-time communication middleware, and multimedia frameworks like GStreamer. - Design heterogeneous sensor ingestion systems covering cameras, radar, lidar, and IMU with deterministic pipeline behavior and time synchronization (PTP/IEEE-1588). - Architect runtimes supporting mixed-criticality systems, ensuring hard real-time control paths and best-effort analytics safely coexist with bounded latency and fault containment. - Drive developer experience, tooling, and packaging strategies, including profilers, pipeline visualization, semantic versioning, container images, and reproducible builds. - Own the SDK release trains, roadmap prioritization, and quality gates across CI/CD, fuzzing, and ABI/API stability testing. - Build, mentor, and scale global engineering teams across runtime, multimedia, developer tooling, and systems integration.
What you'll need
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent with direct experience. - Deep hands-on expertise in heterogeneous sensor pipelines, time synchronization, mixed-criticality real-time constraints, and distributed systems. - Experience defining architecture and delivering production-grade developer SDKs, including APIs, documentation, and packaging. - Demonstrated leadership experience scaling and managing global engineering organizations. - Experience with real-time determinism, CPU affinity, lock contention, and zero-copy memory movement across CPU, GPU, and DMA paths.
Nice to have
- Experience building developer SDKs for embedded and edge markets such as robotics, industrial, automotive, or medical. - Technical expertise in GStreamer-class pipelines, OpenCV ecosystem integration, and distributed communication middleware (such as DDS concepts). - Experience with ROS2 ecosystems and autonomy stack integration spanning perception, fusion, planning, and actuation. - Expertise in time synchronization (PTP/IEEE-1588) and multi-sensor fusion plumbing. - Background in safety and certification adjacent practices or building developer tooling like trace analyzers and graph visualizers.
