About the role
As a Software Engineering Intern in the Broadband Plasma (BBP) division, you will build on-demand containerized test environments that emulate multi-node distributed systems on a single server. This work directly supports system-level software testing for optical inspection systems used in semiconductor manufacturing.
What you'll do
- Extend an existing container-based prototype into a configurable, multi-service test environment. - Add network delay and fault injection to simulate different system configurations and failure modes. - Validate the test harness by reproducing real past defects. - Integrate the containerized harness into the CI pipeline to run automated integration tests on code changes. - Apply the framework to a larger distributed system with a central server and approximately 20 nodes to measure resource and startup-time savings.
What you'll need
- Experience with Linux environments. - Proficiency in Python or shell scripting. - Understanding of basic networking concepts. - Less than 1 year of related experience.
Nice to have
- Experience with Docker or other container tools. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines. - Distributed systems coursework or experience.
