About the role
As a Software Application Development Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and debugging software applications used by end-users or integrated with other applications by ISVs. You will work across the full application stack, focusing on both frontend and backend development with modern programming languages and secure coding practices.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, test, and debug software applications for end-users or integrated with third-party applications.
- Contribute to both frontend and backend development using modern software methodologies and programming languages.
- Write functional and test code, automate build and deployment processes, and perform unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Follow secure coding practices and ensure compliance with software legal guidelines.
- Analyze user stories to translate requirements into practical software solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient infrastructure planning and functionality.
- Complete product documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
- Interact with end-users to define system requirements and implement necessary modifications.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field with 1+ years of hands-on experience in software development OR a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field with no prior professional experience.
- US Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Perl.
- Familiarity with Linux shells and command-line interfaces (CLI).
Nice to have
- Experience with industry-standard tools such as Ansible, Cobbler, Containers, and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of Linux operating systems (preferably SUSE).
- Exposure to continuous monitoring solutions like Elastic, Kibana, and Grafana.
- Basic understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP/S.
- Familiarity with static typed programming languages such as Java or C++.
