About the role
This role involves developing and maintaining embedded software and platform-level solutions for powerful motion control platforms used across ASML machines. The focus includes both new-generation platforms and legacy control platforms, interfacing with digital IO boards, CPUs, FPGAs, and embedded devices.
What you'll do
- Extend and maintain embedded and platform-level software for ASML motion control systems.
- Design and implement low-level software components, including operating system, kernel, and driver-level functionality.
- Contribute to hardware/software co-design with hardware teams on CPU-, FPGA-, and PCIe-based architectures.
- Translate high-level system and customer requirements into robust, high-quality software solutions.
- Take ownership of delivered functionality, ensuring it addresses customer and system needs.
- Actively contribute to improving software quality, performance, and long-term maintainability.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, embedded systems or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience in developing embedded software in a high-tech, multidisciplinary environment.
- Experience working in large code bases, combining new developments with legacy software.
- Strong experience with embedded Linux and/or real-time operating systems.
- Strong experience with low-level system programming, including C and C++.
- Extensive knowledge of real-time control systems and system-level performance characteristics.
- Experience with hardware/software integration, including interaction with CPUs, memory, and peripherals.
- Experience with performance optimization and debugging in complex embedded systems, preferably x86 based.
