About the role

As a Senior Process Engineer at ASM, you will work with semiconductor processing and analytical equipment to research, develop, and optimize processes focused on oxidation, annealing, curing, Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD, PEALD), Epitaxy, or PECVD for logic, memory, analog, power, and MEMS applications. You will design and conduct experiments, perform measurements, interpret experimental output, and generate technical publications and Intellectual Property.

What you'll do

- Research, develop, and optimize unit processes focused on the deposition of metal and dielectric films via ALD, PEALD, Epitaxy, and PECVD. - Design and execute experiments and interpret experimental output using Design of Experiments (DOE) and Response Surface Methodology (RSM). - Resolve equipment and process problems hands-on using scientific methods and tools such as Ishikawa diagrams. - Develop methods and techniques for integrating metal and oxide films into existing and future device technologies. - Support product transfer to customer accounts by executing demonstrations, drafting process and tool documentation, and traveling up to 10%. - Produce technical papers covering process, equipment, and device integration strategies, and generate Intellectual Property.

What you'll need

- Master’s or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or Physics. - 0–2 years of professional work experience (graduated within the past two years or graduating in Spring/Fall 2026). - Experience in thin film deposition processes including cure, oxidation, ALD, CVD, Epitaxy, and PECVD. - Experience with materials characterization techniques including XPS, SIMS, RBS, AFM, XRR, XRD, TEM, SEM, and ellipsometry. - Knowledge of electrical characterization techniques for CMOS devices. - Experience with the application of dielectric and metal films for logic and memory structures.

Nice to have

- Experience with materials characterization theory and practice including HRTEM, FESEM, Auger, and Raman. - Understanding of requirements for integration of metals as work function materials and barrier layers in FEOL and BEOL process flows. - Understanding of the interplay between chemical reactor hardware design, operation, and process outputs. - Training in theoretical or practical Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). - Experience independently managing complex process development projects, project schedules, and hardware procurement.
