About the role
NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Systems Software Engineer to help engineering teams run demanding build, simulation, and validation workloads efficiently and reliably. The Workload Systems Engineering team connects customer workflows with execution infrastructure, covering application configuration, remote execution, worker hosts, GPU and CPU resources, storage, and data paths.
What you'll do
- Build shared self-service and validation mechanisms that allow engineering teams to configure and run supported infrastructure workflows with less manual assistance.
- Develop diagnostic views across application, submission, remote execution, and host or target layers to identify the root causes of failures and slowdowns.
- Establish performance and reliability benchmarks for representative workloads using profiling, metrics, traces, and controlled experiments.
- Evaluate and optimize compute and GPU selection, scheduling, placement, concurrency, worker configuration, resource sharing, caching, and I/O paths.
- Identify retry causes and wasted execution capacity, collaborating with component owners to eliminate recurring failures and redundant execution.
- Implement infrastructure changes alongside build, CI, remote execution, and infrastructure teams, measuring impact on turnaround, stability, capacity, and cost.
What you'll need
- Over 8 years of software engineering experience working with production compute infrastructure, distributed systems, large-scale build and test systems, or comparable systems software.
- Hands-on experience debugging complex performance or reliability issues across software and hardware boundaries using logs, metrics, traces, profiling, and experiments.
- Proficiency in a systems programming or automation language, with experience deploying tested changes into production infrastructure.
- In-depth experience with Linux, plus proficiency in areas such as GPU systems and drivers, scheduling and resource management, remote execution or CI infrastructure, storage and data paths, or host and container infrastructure.
- A degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

How we counted: 988 open Infrastructure/Platform Software (Infrastructure Platform) roles from 87 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 20 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
