About the role
As a Senior Systems Performance Engineer on the Data Center Workload Engineering team, you will build data center–scale performance and power models for SSD and DRAM products under real and emerging data center workloads. Your work will focus on AI training, inference, and large-scale data analytics to inform architecture and product decisions.
What you'll do
- Build performance and power models for SSDs and DRAM in servers and data centers.
- Write tools in Python, C/C++, or a similar language using benchmarks, workload traces, and field telemetry to project performance.
- Test server platforms and measure throughput, latency, bandwidth use, endurance, and power to validate models.
- Analyze AI and data-intensive workloads to compare performance, power, and cost across compute, memory, storage, and interconnect choices.
- Share model assumptions, results, and recommendations, contributing to simulation or emulation work when needed.
What you'll need
- BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant industry experience (or MS/PhD with 1+ years; graduate research in systems performance or architecture counts).
- Hands-on experience with Linux servers and physical hardware.
- Experience writing software for modeling, simulation, data analysis, or automation.
- Experience building or extending a performance, power, or analytical model and checking it against measured data.
- Working knowledge of compute, memory, storage, and interconnect systems, including PCIe, DMA, and memory fundamentals.
Skills: performance modeling, power modeling, SSD, DRAM, PCIe, Python
