Design, develop, and deploy automated inspection and metrology systems using MVTec HALCON.

About the role

This Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, and deploy automated inspection and metrology systems for advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The role involves leveraging C++ and MVTec HALCON to build high-performance, real-time vision algorithms for sub-micron accuracy.

What you'll do

  • Design, optimize, and implement robust machine vision algorithms using MVTec HALCON and C++ for semiconductor defect detection, alignment, metrology, and 2D/3D inspection.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and high-performance C++ code in a multi-threaded, multi-process real-time Windows or Linux environment.
  • Interface software with industrial cameras (GigE), frame grabbers, optics, and specialized lighting systems.
  • Develop and calibrate high-precision coordinate transformation matrices (pixel-to-world).
  • Partner with mechanical, electrical, and automation engineers to test, debug, and validate vision systems on actual manufacturing tools.

What you'll need

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in machine vision software development within the semiconductor or high-precision electronics manufacturing industry.
  • Proficient in C++ with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and memory management.
  • Extensive, production-level experience using MVTec HALCON (HDevEngine or HALCON/C++ integration).
  • Proven familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing processes (e.g., wafer inspection, die bonding, wire bonding, or packaging).
  • Experience with software development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Kanban.
  • Strong background in digital image processing, matrix mathematics, 2D/3D geometry, and camera calibration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.

Nice to have

  • Experience with additional vision/GUI libraries like OpenCV.
  • Familiarity with SECS/GEM communication protocols.
  • Knowledge of deep learning extensions within HALCON for anomaly detection.

Skills: machine vision, HALCON, C++, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, defect detection
