About the role
As an RF/Microwave Design Engineer in Keysight Labs' mm-Wave Subsystems Design Group, you will provide technical leadership for RF and mm-wave subsystem development across concept through production. The role focuses on developing mm-wave front-end products for applications including AI/ML, 5G, 6G, Automotive Radar, and Aerospace & Defense.
What you'll do
- Provide technical leadership in product architecture and definition, owning all phases of the RF and microwave design process from concept through production.
- Design and develop RF/microwave signal-conditioning solutions across varied technology platforms while driving performance, manufacturability, reliability, and qualification requirements.
- Develop and validate electromagnetic models to characterize complex RF and microwave subsystems using 1D, 2.5D, and 3D simulation techniques.
- Define test strategies and lead characterization, validation, and troubleshooting of RF/mm-wave designs and prototypes using measurement techniques.
- Partner with internal and external manufacturing organizations to prototype designs, resolve production challenges, and transition products into high-volume manufacturing.
- Provide technical direction within multidisciplinary teams, mentor engineers, and influence system-level tradeoffs.
What you'll need
- BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field with an emphasis in RF and Microwave Design, or equivalent industry experience.
- 8+ years of experience in RF, microwave, or mm-wave subsystem design.
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering, electronics, and RF/microwave principles.
- Proficiency with microwave modeling and simulation tools, including 1D, 2.5D, and 3D electromagnetic simulators.
- U.S. Person status (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual) as required by U.S. export control laws and regulations.
Nice to have
- Proficiency with Keysight ADS, Genesys, and EMPro.
- Extensive experience with RF/mm-wave test and measurement equipment, including vector network analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, and automated test systems.
- Experience debugging and troubleshooting RF/mm-wave hardware, correlating measurement results to simulation models, performing root-cause analysis, and implementing design improvements.
- Experience with design verification, product qualification, and transition of RF hardware into manufacturing.
- Experience contributing to technical direction, mentoring engineers, and advancing RF/mm-wave design methodologies.
