Own execution of the Photonic Devices BU's manufacturing ramps across the Fremont and Malaysia sites, connecting 3” and 6” Fab ramp for high-power CW lasers and high-speed photodiodes with bar fabrication in Malaysia, and other test and assembly sites across Asia.
About the role
This role owns the end-to-end execution of the Photonic Devices BU's manufacturing ramps across the Fremont, CA and Malaysia sites. This involves translating business ramp targets into manufacturing-readiness actions and connecting 3” and 6” Fab ramp for high-power CW lasers and high-speed photodiodes with bar fabrication in Malaysia.
What you'll do
- Own execution of manufacturing ramps across Fremont and Ipoh, translating business targets into manufacturing-readiness actions.
- Determine and drive all ramp requirements, including equipment capacity, resourcing, process readiness, materials, and tooling.
- Maintain integrated readiness schedule linking Fremont's 3-inch fab ramp (high-power CW lasers, high-speed photodiodes) to Ipoh fabrication, coating, qualification, assembly, and backend.
- Own and maintain the capacity model for the Fremont fab and site, covering tool capacity, utilization, uptime, cycle time, yield, and staffing.
- Drive equipment delivery, installation, and qualification against ramp timing, managing supplier lead times.
- Ensure systems readiness ahead of volume in partnership with IT, engineering, and product data teams for part numbers, BOMs, routings, MES process flows, and data collection.
What you'll need
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in semiconductor or photonics manufacturing operations, focusing on capacity ramp, operations program management, or industrialization.
- 3-5 years leading cross-site and/or contract-manufacturing ramps spanning assembly and fabrication.
- Demonstrated ownership of equipment installation and qualification, capacity planning, and manufacturing-readiness execution for new-product or volume ramps.
- BS degree in engineering or a relevant technical field.
- Solid understanding of wafer fab and backend (assembly/test) process flows and equipment/process qualification.
- Familiarity with MES (e.g., CAMSTAR) and PDM/PLM systems (e.g., Agile).
- Working knowledge of capacity modeling and operations analytics; expertise in MS Excel.
Nice to have
- MS degree in engineering, industrial engineering, operations/supply chain, or business.
- PMP or equivalent program management certification.
- Familiarity with PowerBI; MySQL / MS Access.
- Proficiency in spoken and written Mandarin.

How we counted: 3787 open Semiconductor Equipment Engineering (Manufacturing Equipment) roles from 83 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 15 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Process, Fab & Equipment family row.
