About the role
This role serves as a technical leader responsible for architecting and maturing robotic hardware solutions across mounted, mobile, and humanoid robotics. The focus centers on enabling technologies inside robotic systems, including tactile sensing, joint and actuator electronics, motor control, embedded processing, connectivity, and power management.
What you'll do
- Match customer problem statements to technology solutions across vision, precision sensing, motion, and connectivity.
- Support the creation and optimization of system architectures for robotics solutions, expanding domain knowledge in humanoid, mobile, and outdoor robotics.
- Translate system-level requirements such as control latency, thermal and wiring constraints, grip slip detection, and joint responsiveness into subsystem and silicon requirements.
- Contribute to product roadmaps for connectivity, power, vision, digital, and motor control offerings.
- Support local sales and FAEs during deep technical discussions with robotics customers in the USA.
What you'll need
- Bachelors in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with 10+ years of experience in an industrial/commercial robotics domain.
- Demonstrated experience taking robotic subsystems from architecture through working hardware.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor-based system design, including analog and mixed-signal signal chains, data converters, embedded processors, power electronics, or custom silicon.
- Hands-on experience with schematic design, printed circuit boards, board bring-up, laboratory instrumentation, debugging, and design verification.
- Working knowledge of motors, encoders, motor-control electronics, position feedback, and real-time control.
- Experience integrating tactile, force, torque, position, current, vision, or other sensing into a closed-loop robotic system.

How we counted: 27 open Hardware Systems Engineering (Automotive IC) roles from 13 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 6 Nov 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
