About the role
As a Senior Mechanical Product Engineer in the Data Center Platform Engineering Group (DPEG) Mechanical Engineering department, you will serve as a key technical interface between design engineering and manufacturing for AMD Data Center GPU products. The position requires a deep understanding of mechanical architectures, assemblies, tolerances, and validation intent to ensure that manufacturing and production partners can build, inspect, and test hardware at scale.
What you'll do
- Partner with design teams and manufacturing partners to translate mechanical design intent into production, inspection, and test processes. - Identify critical-to-function features, review manufacturing and test plans, and enable production partners to inspect, assemble, and test hardware. - Support debug and root-cause analysis of issues found during prototype builds, qualification, and high-volume manufacturing. - Drive corrective actions across design, quality, supplier, and factory teams for issues related to assembly, fit, function, and reliability. - Define readiness criteria and close manufacturability gaps to improve product robustness, test coverage, and ramp schedules. - Travel periodically to Asia—especially Taiwan—including multi-week trips during key build and ramp phases.
What you'll need
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with industry experience in mechanical engineering, product engineering, manufacturing support, or hardware productization. - Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, design for manufacturability, tolerance management, and mechanical features across component, board, and system levels. - Experience supporting hardware builds, manufacturing test readiness, debug, and root-cause investigation with factory teams, contract manufacturers, and suppliers. - Proven technical leadership experience driving cross-functional execution across design, validation, manufacturing, and operations.
Nice to have
- An advanced engineering degree. - Working knowledge of statistical analysis, structural analysis, finite element analysis, and tolerance analysis. - CAD fluency in tools such as SolidWorks or Creo. - Experience working with server, rack, and data center hardware, along with familiarity with global manufacturing environments.

How we counted: 1011 open Hardware Systems Engineering (AI ML Hardware) roles from 103 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 23 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
