About the role
Oversee mechanical engineering design and integration for test, assembly, and characterization equipment supporting high-power CW lasers, high-speed photodetectors, and co-packaged optics at R&D and mass-production scales.
What you'll do
- Lead the mechanical engineering design and integration of automated process and test equipment, fixturing, optical components, and related assemblies. - Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, product engineering, planning, and logistics teams in Fremont to address technical needs and optimize equipment performance. - Direct equipment instrumentation and mechanical designs to improve production efficiency across R&D-level and mass-production-level operations. - Ensure on-time product delivery and adherence to quality standards across cross-functional teams.
What you'll need
- Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or a related field. - Minimum 5 years of industrial engineering development experience, focusing on automated semiconductor production or test/measurement/inspection equipment. - Strong proficiency and hands-on experience with 3D design software, specifically SolidWorks. - Solid technical experience in automated test and measurement equipment, machine vision systems, motion systems and robotics, pneumatics, and electronics. - Demonstrated experience in thermal management, automated system instrumentation, and optics (free-space and fiber optics).
Nice to have
- Direct hands-on experience in semiconductor laser chip or module test instrumentation and system design.
