About the role
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will develop innovative mechanical design solutions that meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements. This role supports metrology solutions for advanced semiconductor manufacturing, including systems for measuring film thickness, critical dimensions, composition, and resistivity.
What you'll do
- Drive requirement specification and conduct feasibility studies.
- Perform conceptual and detailed design, creating detailed drawings using 3D solid modeling (ProE/Creo).
- Conduct various analyses, including fluid, thermal, vibrational, and FEA modeling.
- Perform detailed tolerance stack-up analysis and hold design reviews.
- Manage procurement of prototype parts, prototype assembly, and testing.
- Ensure system integration and testing, and create assembly and test procedures.
- Address and resolve product issues through the product phases.
What you'll need
- In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, sheet metal forming, and 3D printing.
- Solid knowledge of precision machine design and mechanical engineering fundamentals, including design principles, machine elements, materials, and fabrication methods.
- Experience in 3D solid modeling (Creo or Solidworks).
- Basic knowledge of vacuum systems and experience with ultra-high vacuum design.
- Solid understanding of statics, mechanics of materials, fluid flow, and heat transfer.
- Experience/knowledge in opto-mechanical systems, design of inspection equipment, motion controls, electronics, tooling & test fixture design, supplier management, new product introduction, or manufacturing support.
- Doctorate (Academic) Degree with 5+ years, Master's Level Degree with 8+ years, or Bachelor's Level Degree with 12+ years of related work experience.
