What you'll do
- Lead system design and performance closure across SerDes and PHY architectures, EIC/PIC integration, and optical engines.
- Own SI/PI methodology and end-to-end link analysis including channel budgeting, COM analysis, jitter, and crosstalk.
- Drive electrical-optical DSP architecture and algorithm development including TX/RX equalization, CDR, and adaptive filtering.
- Develop system-level models and architecture tradeoff studies spanning bandwidth, reach, power, latency, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and scalability.
- Provide technical leadership across silicon, package, optics, platform, and software organizations while driving technology roadmaps.
What you'll need
- Demonstrated success productizing 112G and/or 224G PAM4 electrical and optical communication systems.
- Deep expertise in High-speed SerDes architectures, Electrical-optical DSP algorithms, and PAM4 communication systems.
- Deep expertise in Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI), EIC/PIC co-design, and heterogeneous integration.
- Hands-on experience with ADS, HFSS, CST, HSPICE, MATLAB, Python, Cadence Sigrity, Lumerical, Zemax, Verilog-A, SystemVerilog, COM analysis tools, and IBIS-AMI modeling.

How we counted: 953 open Hardware Systems Engineering (AI ML Hardware) roles from 102 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 16 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
