Focus on post-silicon characterization and first silicon bring up for PCIe, USB4, and MIPI SERDES interfaces.
About the role
This position is for the Post Silicon Engineering group developing test solutions for SOCs designed by Qualcomm. Responsibilities focus on test methodologies, characterization, and electrical compliance for high-speed SERDES interfaces such as PCIe, USB4, UFS, DP, and MIPI.
What you'll do
- Define and execute test methodologies and characterization plans for high-speed interfaces including PCIe, USB4, UFS, DP, MIPI (DSI, CSI), and PLLs. - Drive first silicon bring up and debug to qualify designs fabricated at external foundries and optimize design parameters. - Validate electrical compliance and perform technical data analysis of parametric performance over various operating conditions and configurations. - Assist in hardware design and debug power integrity (PI) and signal integrity (SI) issues related to package and board design. - Collaborate with IC Design and Systems Engineering for chip/circuit bring up, and work with Customer Engineering to resolve RMA issues.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related field. - 5 years of work experience in high-speed silicon validation (or Bachelor's and 2+ years of hardware engineering experience / Master's and 1+ year / PhD). - Experience driving first silicon bring up and debug for high-speed SERDES interfaces. - Experience with electrical compliance testing and parametric performance data analysis. - Experience debugging power integrity (PI) and signal integrity (SI) issues.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering. - Understanding of VLSI technologies, CMOS analog and digital integrated circuits, mixed-signal, and semiconductor physics. - Knowledge of high-speed test including eye diagram characteristics, receiver JTOL performance, jitter analysis, and SERDES transmitter/receiver design blocks. - Hands-on experience with lab equipment including Oscilloscopes, TDRs/VNAs, and J-BERT. - Experience with Python or C# for test automation. - Familiarity with board design concepts including schematic reviews and layout best practices.
