Design electrical systems for advanced etch and deposition systems.
About the role
This role involves the electrical design, product safety, regulatory compliance, and long-term support of electrical systems in semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
What you'll do
- Design and sustain electrical systems for semiconductor process equipment.
- Specify and integrate electrical components including power supplies, sensors, relays, circuit protection devices, heaters, temperature control hardware, and motion-control elements.
- Develop equipment protection strategies and electrical safety functions such as emergency stops, safety interlocks, and grounding systems.
- Evaluate new technologies and alternative components to improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
- Support field electrical troubleshooting escalations when required.
- Lead product safety and compliance initiatives across multiple equipment platforms.
- Interpret and implement industry standards including SEMI, CE, IEC, NFPA, UL, and customer-specific requirements.
- Conduct compliance assessments, design reviews, gap analyses, risk assessments, and hazard evaluations.
- Partner with certification bodies and testing organizations to achieve product certifications and maintain compliance documentation.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience designing electrical systems for semiconductor equipment, industrial automation, manufacturing equipment, or similar electromechanical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and design electrical systems and equipment to regulatory standards (i.e., 60204-1, NFPA 79, UL 508A).
- Strong understanding of electrical design principles, power distribution, controls, and electrical safety.
- Experience selecting, integrating, and troubleshooting electrical components and subsystems.
Nice to have
- Experience as a liaison with 3rd party assessors to achieve and maintain equipment certifications (i.e., CE mark, EMC).
- Experience assessing and designing safety interlock circuits with performance levels required by ISO 13849.
- Working knowledge of SEMI S2, CE, IEC, NFPA, UL, ISO 13849, and other product compliance standards.
- Experience performing machine safety risk assessments and hazard analyses (i.e., 12100, FMEA).
- Experience using Sistema for Performance Level (PL) and functional safety evaluations.
