Design, develop, integrate, and qualify complex Printed Circuit Board Assemblies for ASML’s electronic control systems.
About the role
As a Senior Electrical Engineer- PCBA Designer, you will design, develop, integrate, and qualify complex Printed Circuit Board Assemblies used in ASML’s electronic control systems. This involves defining board-level architectures and developing schematics for demanding semiconductor manufacturing environments.
What you'll do
- Design and develop complex active PCBAs for electronic control systems.
- Define board-level architectures for FPGA, processor, memory, communication, and sensor-interface functions.
- Develop and maintain schematics using ASML-approved design tools and methodologies.
- Select and qualify components to meet functionality, reliability, lifecycle, EMC, and manufacturability requirements.
- Perform board bring-up, verification, debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
- Support PCB layout reviews and guide placement, routing, stack-up, and high-speed implementation decisions.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 10 years of industry experience in electronic hardware development.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience designing complex active PCBAs.
- Demonstrated experience with FPGA, processor, memory, and high-speed communication interfaces.
- Demonstrated experience using LTspice or comparable SPICE-based simulation tools to analyze and validate analog, mixed-signal, and power-electronics circuits.
- Experience validating simulations of high-speed board design and verifying quality in the lab using iBert and other eye pattern test tools.
- Strong knowledge of FPGA-based and processor-based board architectures.
- Knowledge of high-speed protocols and interfaces, including PCIe, Ethernet, SRIO, DDR, SPI, SRIO, and I2C, for 1 – 25 Gbps.
- Understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, clocking, grounding, shielding, and high-speed design constraints.
- Proficiency with LTspice or equivalent SPICE-based tools for circuit simulation, including transient, AC, DC operating-point, tolerance, and worst-case analysis, along with experience in schematic capture, PCB layout guidelines, and PCBA development tools such as Xpedition, Altium Designer, or equivalent.
- Strong board-, module-, and system-level troubleshooting skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
- Knowledge of robust design practices, reliability methods, and hardware qualification methods, including MTBF, HALT, ALT, and DFMEA.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with AMD/Xilinx based SoC design.
