About the role
This role is for a Scientist II, Materials focusing on materials characterization, testing, and technical expertise within the R&D Analytical Lab in Decatur, TX. This position supports product development, quality improvement, and customer needs by analyzing materials and investigating product performance.
What you'll do
- Perform routine and specialized materials testing for projects and analytical requests.
- Develop test methods and processes.
- Assist Research Scientists with product development activities.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to determine root causes in product development and quality problems.
- Engage in continuous training on various analytical techniques and methods.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in materials science or related field.
- Familiarity with lab environment and understanding of laboratory procedures and methods.
- Computer skills related to data analysis, word processing, and image processing.
- Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel, individually or as a team member.
- Capacity to comply with federally mandated requirements of U.S. export control law.
Nice to have
- Carbon, graphite, and/or ceramic materials experience/understanding.
- SEM, EDS, and optical microscope experience.
- Thermal analysis, XRD, Raman, and physical properties testing experience.
