Work on Studio, a browser-based, multiplayer platform for designing and assembling whole chips.

About the role

This role involves fullstack software engineering, focusing on the application itself, with an emphasis on owning major features from design through shipping across the entire stack. You will contribute to Studio, a platform for designing and assembling chips that handles schematic capture, physical layout, and simulation.

What you'll do

  • Own major features from design through shipping, touching the whole stack
  • Develop deeply interactive, low-latency editing tools for chip design
  • Implement a document model supporting diffing, merging, and real-time collaboration
  • Design and build a sync engine for streaming edits between clients
  • Optimize a GPU canvas to render millions of polygons smoothly using Rust
  • Create simulation features that stream waveforms and provide interactive analysis

What you'll need

  • Strong Rust experience, or serious C++/systems experience with a curiosity for Rust
  • Solid systems fundamentals, including memory, performance, and concurrency
  • Track record of building non-trivial software from scratch
  • A portfolio (GitHub is acceptable)

Nice to have

  • Experience with game, engine, or real-time systems (ECS, scene graphs, spatial indexing, physics engines, frame budgets, GUI, low-latency input)
  • Background in Electrical Engineering, analog and digital
  • Experience with deep, serious software like Blender, Ableton, KiCad, CAD tools, DAWs, game engines
  • Familiarity with distributed or real-time systems (write-ahead logs, event sourcing, replication, CRDTs, OT, websockets, data pipelines)
  • Knowledge of geometry, graph, and routing algorithms; spatial data structures; optimization
  • Familiarity with schema evolution and serialization formats (Protobuf, Flatbuffers, Cap’n Proto)
  • Experience with graphics and visualization, custom rendering, shaders, GPU pipelines (WebGPU, Vulkan, OpenGL)
  • Interest in version control internals, beyond just using Git

Skills: chip design tools, fullstack, Rust, WebAssembly, CAD tools
