SambaNova is building the SambaRack, rack-scale hardware that uses RDU (Reconfigurable Dataflow Unit) chips.
About the role
We are seeking a hands-on Rack-level Manufacturing Test Engineer to design, develop, and implement test strategies, and optimize for fully integrated rack systems, with a main focus on end-to-end testing of compute, power, cooling, and networking components at the rack level. This role involves integrating RDU chips into rack-scale hardware called SambaRack.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and optimize automated manufacturing test sequences for integrated system racks (L10 to L12 integration levels).
- Develop orchestration environments to automate firmware flashing (BIOS/BMC), network switch configuration, and operating system deployment at scale.
- Implement rack-level stress testing, including load-balancing validation, thermal throttling assessments, and power shelf/PDU (Power Distribution Unit) margin testing.
- Write and maintain test scripts using Python, Bash, or Go to automate system diagnostic tools, network topology validation, and peripheral checks.
- Integrate system diagnostics and stress-testing frameworks into the manufacturing execution system (MES).
- Drive complex triage efforts for failure analysis at the rack system level, identifying issues from cabling, firmware mismatches, network configurations, or component defects.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related field.
- 5–7+ years of experience in system-level or rack-level manufacturing test engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with manufacturing test systems and troubleshooting.
- Experience with automated test development and test equipment integration.
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing and product ramp.
Nice to have
- Experience with hardware/software integration testing.
- Familiarity with test frameworks, scripting, and automation tools.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and global production environments.
- Knowledge of quality and reliability methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis, DFx).
- Experience with data center hardware operations.

How we counted: 3768 open Semiconductor Equipment Engineering (Manufacturing Equipment) roles from 81 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 18 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Process, Fab & Equipment family row.
