About the role
Western Digital is seeking a Quantum Device Low Temperature Measurement Scientist to lead research projects focused on low temperature characterization of superconducting qubits. The role centers on low temperature RF metrology and novel device designs to improve coherence times, qubit gate operations, and establish online wafer-level low temperature characterization capabilities.
What you'll do
- Lead and execute quantum computing research projects across superconducting qubits design, packaging, and low temperature RF metrology. - Collaborate with product teams to develop solutions for device design and metrology needs. - Conduct fundamental research, stay current with academic and industry trends, and publish papers and conference presentations. - Develop and present detailed reports and data visualizations to communicate research findings and actionable insights to stakeholders.
What you'll need
- Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. - Experience with device nanofabrication challenges, packaging, and low temperature characterization of superconducting qubit devices. - Experience in the understanding and simulation of low temperature RF measurement of qubit devices. - Experience in characterization of low temperature resonators and superconducting qubit-based devices. - Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Rust, TCL, or C, with knowledge of or willingness to learn FPGA-based microcontrollers. - Experience with other device systems, materials characterization, and electronic or optical device characterization.
Skills: superconducting qubits, RF metrology, low temperature, characterization, nanofabrication
