About the role
The Product Engineering Manager builds and leads a team of Product Engineers owning mechanical product families end-to-end, holding accountability for product-level yield, product quality, and customer support across the Precision Meso-scale Technology Center (PMTC). The role supports mechanical solutions for RF, microwave, mmWave, and 5G/6G systems across AI infrastructure, communications, aerospace, defense, and semiconductor measurement equipment.
What you'll do
- Hire, coach, and develop a team of Product Engineers, setting performance expectations and assigning product families by volume, complexity, and yield risk. - Define working interfaces with Process Engineering and Integration Engineering, including ownership boundaries, NPI-to-production handoff exit criteria, and escalation paths. - Own product-level yield, scrap, rework, and cost-of-poor-quality targets while leading cross-process RCCA (8D, DMAIC) to closure. - Ensure mechanical conformance to drawing, GD&T, and AS9100 / ISO 9001 standards via NCM / MRB disposition, CAR / CAPA closure, waiver governance, and SPC. - Serve as the primary escalation point for Keysight product lines and R&D regarding quality events, recovery plans, and delivery risk. - Deliver DFM and inspectability feedback to R&D on new drawings, and establish standards for production OSP qualification.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience. - 8+ years of experience in precision machining or precision mechanical component manufacturing across product, quality, manufacturing, or sustaining engineering, including 3+ years leading engineers or technical teams. - Working command of GD&T and mechanical metrology methods including CMM, optical inspection, and surface profilometry. - Hands-on structured problem-solving experience with 8D, RCCA, DMAIC, and FMEA, using yield and SPC data in Excel, Power BI, Minitab, or JMP. - Proven experience presenting quality events, root cause investigations, and recovery plans to customers, program managers, or senior leaders.

How we counted: 966 open Hardware Systems Engineering (AI ML Hardware) roles from 102 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 19 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
