This role focuses on deionized/ultrapure water (DIW/UPW), industrial wastewater (IWW), and reclaim & reuse systems.
About the role
This role involves driving continuous improvement and optimization of process water systems within the facility's manufacturing operations. You will leverage technical expertise to advance process efficiency, ensure compliance, and support strategic goals for systems designed to run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year without interruption.
What you'll do
- Make engineering decisions balancing safety, reliability, cost, capacity, and operational efficiency.
- Lead analysis, design, and continuous improvement of deionized/ultrapure water (DIW/UPW), industrial wastewater (IWW), and reclaim & reuse systems utility systems.
- Provide engineering technical support for system operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and incident response.
- Develop and maintain key system documentation, including P&IDs, process flow diagrams, operating procedures, and sequences of operation.
- Lead capital and expense projects for system upgrades, expansions, and optimization initiatives from concept through startup and handoff.
- Define project scope, priorities, schedules, resources, and success measures, and drive execution to plan.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related science field.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
Nice to have
- Capital or expense project leadership for semiconductor process water systems.
- Strong background in UPW/DIW and Industrial Wastewater unit processes for semiconductor manufacturing.
- Experience with water purification systems (DIW/UPW, reverse osmosis, ion exchange).
- Experience with industrial wastewater treatment or reclaim/reuse systems.
- Advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, FMEA, and reliability engineering experience.
- Experience with performance metrics, dashboards, and data analysis for system optimization.
- Cross-functional partnership across facilities, manufacturing, EHS, process engineering, and maintenance.

How we counted: 2481 open Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering (Manufacturing Equipment) roles from 79 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 15 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Process, Fab & Equipment family row.
