About the role

As a Technical Product Manager within the Core Data Center Business Unit (CDBU) data center SSD Product Management team, you will define and drive technical specifications and requirements for data center SSDs. Working within a product line, you will represent the voice of the customer across OEM server, OEM storage, and public cloud provider segments.

What you'll do

  • Own and maintain customer-driven requirements documents, perform spec gap and competitive analysis, and contribute to launch materials, technical marketing collateral, and datasheets.
  • Work daily with engineering to evaluate technical issues, define solutions, and guide development decisions and trade-offs.
  • Build working technical relationships with customer engineering teams to gather requirements, analyze workloads, and feed insights into product pathfinding discussions.
  • Prepare and present technical content in concept reviews, design reviews, technical stage gate reviews, and Quarterly Technical Reviews with OEMs and hyperscalers.
  • Represent data center SSD requirements within the Micron Product Life-Cycle Management (PLM) planning process and maintain accurate technical data in requirements management tools.
  • Utilize LLM-based and agentic AI tools to automate requirements analysis, validation, documentation, and cross-program comparison.

What you'll need

  • BS or BA degree in engineering or a technical field, with 3+ years of combined engineering, product development, applications, or customer-facing experience in storage or semiconductors (or an MS/PhD offset).
  • Experience working with solid state drives (SSDs) or hard disk drives (HDDs).
  • Advanced technical depth in one storage domain or thorough working knowledge across multiple domains: NVMe interface, NAND, ASIC, DRAM, networking, firmware, software, validation, servers, GPUs, or QoS.
  • Demonstrated experience authoring or contributing to requirements documents, technical specifications, or test plans.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Nice to have

  • Customer-facing technical experience with OEM, hyperscale, or enterprise storage customers.
  • Familiarity with data center SSD industry specifications such as NVMe, PCIe, and the OCP Datacenter NVMe SSD specification.
  • Exposure to SSD product development stage gates, qualification, or product life-cycle management (PLM) processes.
