Architect server and AI platforms powered by EPYC processors and Instinct GPUs.
About the role
AMD is seeking a Server and AI Product Architect to join the Datacenter System Architecture and Engineering team to define and develop EPYC and Instinct GPU products. The role defines end-to-end product and system architecture across silicon, platform hardware, system software, and enterprise AI/HPC usage models.
What you'll do
- Define server and enterprise AI/HPC GPU product architectures using AMD processors, Instinct GPUs, accelerators, and network components for high-performance computing, server, and megascale data center deployments. - Collaborate with customers, processor architects, IP and SOC architects, network and IO device architects, and software teams to balance performance, power, and cost across systems and components. - Conduct research and development on data center compute designs spanning silicon, packaging, power delivery, thermal, mechanical, and hardware management. - Evaluate end-to-end product architecture trade-offs across memory, I/O, signal integrity, power integrity, boot processes, firmware, and power management. - Partner with external technology companies and internal engineering leadership to drive alignment on technical positions and joint product execution based on new SoCs, CPUs, and chipsets.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. - Deep technical knowledge of product architecture and design including memory, I/O, signal integrity, power integrity, packaging, power delivery, thermal, mechanical, power management, boot process, firmware, and hardware management. - Proven track record of working with technology companies to jointly engineer products based on new SoCs, CPUs, or chipsets. - Legal authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Demonstrated server and GPU product expertise across multiple projects from architecture, development, design, bring-up, and validation through release to production. - Detailed understanding of server industry standards such as DDR, PCIe, SATA, and other high-speed IO protocols. - Experience with BMC and hardware management, firmware, power delivery, and power management architectures.
