About the role
AMD is looking for an Enterprise AI/HPC GPU architect to join the Datacenter System Architecture and Engineering team to develop products around Instinct GPUs. You will define EPYC and Enterprise AI/HPC GPU product and system architecture spanning Si, platform HW/SW, and datacenter use cases.
What you'll do
- Define server and Enterprise AI/HPC GPU product and systems architecture using AMD Processors, Instinct GPUs, accelerators, and network components. - Collaborate with customers, processor architects, IP and SOC architects, network and IO device architects, and software developers to define performance, power balance, and cost requirements. - Contribute to product and system architecture across datacenter products covering memory, I/O, signal integrity, power integrity, packaging, power delivery, thermal, mechanical, and power management. - Conduct research and development on datacenter compute designs to evaluate and improve performance. - Work with partner technology companies to co-engineer systems based on new SoCs, CPUs, and chipsets.
What you'll need
- Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with extensive experience. - Deep knowledge of product architecture and design including memory, I/O, signal integrity, power integrity, packaging, power delivery, thermal, mechanical, power management, boot process, FW, and hardware management. - Proven track record of working with partner technology companies to jointly engineer products based on SoCs, CPUs, or chipsets. - Ability to establish technical credibility with engineering and leadership counterparts and align on system architecture solutions.
Nice to have
- Demonstrated server and GPU products experience across architecture, design, bring-up, validation, and production release. - Detailed understanding of server industry standards such as DDR, PCIe, SATA, and other high-speed IO protocols. - Experience with BMC and hardware management, boot process, and firmware architecture.

How we counted: 511 open AI/ML Hardware Engineering (AI ML Hardware) roles from 76 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 21 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
