About the role
This Principal Analog Engineer will lead the design and development of power management ICs, including voltage regulators, power converters, and other related components. This role focuses on Linear and Switching DC-DC converters for phones and handheld devices.
What you'll do
- Lead the design and development of power management ICs, including voltage regulators and power converters.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ICs into larger systems.
- Identify and resolve technical challenges and risks.
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Architect ICs from system-level requirements to block-level specifications.
- Guide layout development from floor planning through verification, including noise isolation techniques.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
- 15+ years of experience in Analog Circuit Design.
- Experience leading development of multiple Power ICs with Switching Converters from system specifications to production.
- Proficiency in designing complete switching converters and involved I/Ps.
- Understanding of Power devices, operations, and design trade-offs.
- Experience with complex I/Ps like +ve/-ve Charge Pumps, Source-Sink LDOs, Ultra-low power Oscillators, Temperature Sensor, Current Sense, SAR ADCs, House Keeping blocks, Protection (Thermal, Under-Voltage, Over-Voltage, Over Current), Bandgap references, V2I, Analog Buffers, Op-Amps, Comparators, High speed level shifters, and Switch Cap circuits.
- In-depth understanding of and ability to choose, design, and compensate Control loops.
- Experience with silicon debugs, root cause analysis, and design to silicon correlation.
- Knowledge of commonly used control loop architectures (Constant Freq, Constant ON/OFF Time, Current mode).
- In-depth knowledge of Analog layouts, FET layouts, and Noise isolation techniques.
- Familiarity with standard design, extraction, and simulation flows & tools.
- Ability to set up design flows and methodologies including checklists and reviews.
- Understanding of ESD, LU and other IC level issues to define protection for the I/O ring.
