RF, Wireless & Photonics
$26 - $47 USD yearly
This co-op focuses on the development of advanced radio frequency (RF) front-end modules.
About the role
This co-op role involves participating in the development of advanced radio frequency (RF) front-end modules, with a specific focus on Power Amplifier (PA) Integrated Circuit (IC) design. You will gain insight into how products are developed and build technical skills in IC design.
What you'll do
- Design and develop RF Integrated Circuits (RFICs) for multi-chip modules
- Design RF power amplifiers
- Run simulations using Keysight ADS and Ansys HFSS
- Perform laboratory testing using standard RF test equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve design and technical issues
What you'll need
- Currently enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Commitment to working on-site in Irvine for the duration of the January–June 2027 co-op term
- Familiarity with amplifier operating modes, including Class A, AB, C, E, and F, as well as load modulation techniques such as Doherty power amplifier design
- Familiarity with Digital Predistortion (DPD), memory effects, and their impact on power amplifier design
- Strong career interest in power amplifier design and RF/microwave engineering
Nice to have
- Experience with Keysight ADS
- Hands-on laboratory experience using a network analyzer and other RF test instruments
- Understanding of Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor (HBT) technology
Skills: Power Amplifier, RFIC, Keysight ADS, Ansys HFSS, RF test equipment, HBT technology
