About the role
This role is for a senior engineer to join the team and contribute to the future of VCF Networking. The work involves building highly reliable, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
What you'll do
- Design, lead, and maintain multiple platform components including runtime libraries, messaging, and datastore services, ensuring robustness, scalability, and performance. - Apply industry standards and best practices to transform homegrown databases into highly available and scalable containerized services on Kubernetes. - Mentor and guide junior developers.
What you'll need
- Experience building highly reliable fault tolerant Distributed Systems. - Strong familiarity with database internals (e.g., Postgres), replication, TCP/IP, and virtualized environments (i.e. VMWare vSphere). - Deep experience in architectural transformation and modernization of existing services into containerized applications, owning the deployment, infrastructure, and ongoing orchestration on Kubernetes platforms. - Recent and proficient experience with Java, C++, Go, Python, or similar. - Solid understanding of modern development practices including Automated testing, Fault Injection, and Performance. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and 8+ years of experience in distributed systems design and implementation; or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience and 6+ years of experience in distributed systems design and implementation.
