This role focuses on Physical Design within the CPU Domain.
About the role
This role involves planning, designing, optimizing, verifying, and testing electronic systems as a Hardware Engineer. The scope includes physical design, STA, and timing signoff within the CPU Domain.
What you'll do
- Plan, design, optimize, verify, and test electronic systems, circuits, and digital systems.
- Perform physical implementation from floorplan to PRO and timing signoff.
- Prepare complex ECOs for timing convergence across multiple corners.
- Minimize power for physical designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop solutions and meet performance requirements.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience OR Master's degree and 3+ years OR PhD and 2+ years.
- Solid understanding of industry standard tools for physical implementation [Genus, Innovus, FC, PT, Tempus, Voltas, Redhawk].
- Grip on floorplan to PRO and timing signoff, including understanding of IR drop and physical verification.
- Experience preparing complex ECOs for timing convergence through Tweaker / Tempus / Physical PT ECOs.
- Awareness of tricks for minimizing power.
Nice to have
- 8 years of experience in Physical design, STA in CPU Domain.
- Experience in deep submicron process technology nodes.
- Knowledge of high performance and low power implementation methods.
- Expertise in Perl, TCL language.

How we counted: 627 open Physical Design (Physical Design) roles from 79 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 29 Sept 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Physical Implementation family row.
