Optical Module Software/Firmware Intern

About the role
This intern role focuses on providing software/firmware support for customer firmware development and testing of optical modules. You will gain hands-on experience with PAM4 DSP, Coherent DSP, and Coherent optical technologies.
What you'll do
- Work with senior FAEs on customer module firmware/software development.
- Help build equipment control scripts for lab automation tests.
- Support lab activities to tune and optimize customer modules.
- Participate in product bring-up and evaluation, including software setup and TX/RX performance testing.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of technical documentation.
- Assist with customer firmware development, including image flashing, configuration, and register access over I²C/ MDIO.
What you'll need
- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Software, Computer Science, Electronics/Electrical/Control Engineering, or a related field.
- Comfortable with C and Python programming, able to write utilities and modify embedded code.
- Strong willingness to learn, effective communication skills, and a collaborative mindset.
- Able to commit at least 4-6 months.
Nice to have
- Experience with DCA, BERT, or other test equipment.
- Knowledge of signal and power integrity.
- Experience with simulation tools such as ADS or HFSS.
