What you'll do
- Work with production teams to support manufacturing and new-product-introduction (NPI) initiatives.
- Participate in Manufacturing tooling design and upgrades using Siemens NX 3D CAD simulation program or modeling.
- Transfer NPI precision opto-mechanical tooling, processes, and procedures, conducting training to technicians.
- Support customer returns by leading failure investigations, determining root causes, and developing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Define and develop assembly processes and documentation, support production trouble shooting, and lead manufacturing personnel.
- Support, implement, and update optics products’ assembly and test procedures while continuously making relevant improvements.
- Develop on-the-job expertise to troubleshoot and resolve optical interferometer product issues.
- Lead production test station upgrades, including hardware design support, software updates, and qualification of new or modified test methods.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Optical Sciences, or a closely related technical discipline.
- 4-7 years of experience working in technical manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and work independently to develop ideas and translate new concepts into practical, results-driven solutions.
Nice to have
- Experience with translating interferometer product requirements to optical component specifications and optical assembly techniques.
- Working knowledge of geometrical optics, opto‑mechanical, and kinematic design principles.
- Hands‑on experience in one or more of the following: Precision opto‑mechanical manufacturing, Optics assembly and test, Optics, lasers, and fiber‑optics industry standards, Kinematic mechanical designs.
- Experience of using CAD designs to create assembly tools with design analysis such Siemens NX, PTC CREO or ANSYS.
- Familiarity with structured problem‑solving methodologies and quality systems (e.g., CAPA, 5 Why’s, 8D, Lean Six Sigma).

How we counted: 946 open Hardware Systems Engineering (AI ML Hardware) roles from 102 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 13 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
