About the role

This role leads the introduction of new crystal components, optical elements, and photonic subassemblies from concept through production release, with primary responsibility for supporting external customer programs. It serves as the primary technical interface between customers, engineering, and manufacturing teams, evaluating prototype feasibility, managing product qualification, and mitigating technical risks.

What you'll do

• Lead the introduction of new crystal components, optical elements, and photonic subassemblies from concept through production release
• Serve as the primary technical interface between customers, engineering, and manufacturing teams throughout product qualification
• Evaluate prototype requests for technical feasibility, manufacturability, and scalability
• Generate and maintain product documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, and qualification reports
• Coordinate cross-functional activities among planning, R&D, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing teams
• Lead phase-gate reviews and drive lifecycle management activities, addressing design, process, supply chain, and quality risks

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience with a Bachelor's degree; 3 years with a Master's degree; or a Ph.D. in a related field
• Experience in photonics, laser systems, nonlinear optics, optical materials, and light-matter interactions
• Experience with optical components and assemblies, project management, and technical presentations
• Experience in customer-facing engineering support, including managing customer requests and technical inquiries

Nice to have

• Experience with CAD software, including SolidWorks
