About the role
Aeva is seeking an NPI Alignment Engineer to work with design teams and contract manufacturers in developing precision optoelectronic alignment equipment. The role focuses on micro-optic assembly techniques and equipment with a heavy emphasis on active alignment.
What you'll do
- Develop active alignment equipment from concept to production release for in-house and outsourced systems. - Collaborate remotely and on-site with equipment manufacturers to resolve active alignment hardware and process issues. - Oversee failure analysis of process and assembly issues. - Source and buy-off active alignment equipment required for production. - Provide DFM feedback to engineering teams and own process-related design decisions for active alignment.
What you'll need
- 3-5 years of experience developing custom optoelectronic active alignment equipment and alignment processes. - Hands-on experience developing, debugging, and modifying alignment sequences in custom equipment GUIs. - Experience with automation hardware including precision stages, automated dispensing, and pneumatics. - Strong understanding of geometric optics, mechanical alignment hardware, and epoxies used for active alignment. - Experience specifying and developing alignment techniques and algorithms while optimizing for cycle time, yield, and performance. - Willingness for extended international travel.
Nice to have
- Experience writing scripts in Python, Matlab, Labview, or C++. - Experience analyzing alignment datasets using Python, R, JMP, or similar tools. - Solidworks experience and background designing precision mechanical parts and assemblies. - Experience operating in an R&D environment while meeting production schedule deadlines.
