About the role
This is a full-stack Mechanical Engineering Internship for the summer term focusing on designing hardware to rebuild the semiconductor fabrication process. Engineering projects span structures, optics, robotics, heat transfer, physics, and chemistry.
What you'll do
- Design, prototype, and build semiconductor fabrication equipment. - Write mechanical drawings and technical documentation. - Perform detailed analysis and simulations to evaluate electromechanical designs. - Drive prototypes into production in collaboration with manufacturing and supply chain teams.
What you'll need
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering. - Hands-on prototyping experience with the ability to move through design cycles quickly. - Hands-on experience with electromechanical assembly design and analysis from coursework, internships, or personal projects. - Strong foundation in mechanical engineering, including SolidWorks or Onshape, simulation, and materials selection. - Demonstrated portfolio of built physical systems or personal projects.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with semiconductor processing such as ALD, CVD, PVD, or photolithography. - Foundation in electrical engineering including KiCad, Altium, microcontrollers, embedded systems, or digital circuits. - Experience in optical engineering, precision machine design, or vacuum systems.
