About the role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer focused on chamber development, you will own the design of critical subsystems that operate in aggressive chemical environments. This role is core to Veeco's Engineered-to-Order product strategy for advanced wet processing systems fueling AI, advanced packaging, and high-performance devices.
What you'll do
- Design and configure single-wafer wet process chambers and related subassemblies.
- Define detailed mechanical specifications and integrate automation, gas, and fluid delivery elements.
- Conduct thermal and structural analyses (FEA) for static, dynamic, and thermal conditions.
- Create and manage CAD models, drawings, and BOMs (SolidWorks/PLM).
- Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Program Management.
- Provide shop-floor support for build issues and lead design-of-experiments during prototype evaluation.
What you'll need
- BS in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in capital equipment design or an MS degree with 3+ years of experience.
- Proficient in SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D CAD) and PLM tools.
- Skilled in Finite Element Analysis (structural & thermal).
- Familiarity with GD&T, motion components, robotics/automation, and SEMI standards.
- Hands-on approach to prototyping and troubleshooting in an engineering lab setting.
Nice to have
- Experience developing chambers or components operating in chemical process environments.
- Familiarity with SAP PLM.
