About the role
Applied Materials is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - IV in Santa Clara, CA to resolve mechanical problems, design custom mechanical tooling, and oversee manufacturing and installation processes across the product life cycle. You will be responsible for designing and modifying mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, and specifications while coordinating critical components with key suppliers.
What you'll do
- Identify and troubleshoot complex mechanical problems with limited to no supervision. - Lead or execute engineering projects, including the development of key suppliers. - Develop, design, or modify engineering layouts, schematics, drawings, and product specifications of complex scope. - Design, develop, and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing, and associated processes to enable handling, assembly, and disassembly across operational processes. - Define, coordinate, perform, and generate engineering test reports while performing complex engineering analysis. - Communicate with internal and external customers regarding complex mechanical issues for specific projects.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree. - 7-10 years of experience. - Subject-matter expertise with CAD software. - Experience with thermodynamics, flow analysis, or sheet metal design. - Practical expertise in material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&T, and Design for Excellence principles.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of the Applied Materials product life cycle, including prototyping, packaging, material selection, and manufacturing methods.
