About the role
The Mechanical Design Engineer owns the system architecture for process media and vacuum systems in semiconductor equipment, encompassing gas, water, LN2, and vacuum distribution.
What you'll do
- Own the architecture for gas, water, LN2, and vacuum distribution systems while developing P&IDs, device lists, interface definitions, and requirements allocations. - Perform fluid flow and thermal simulations, alongside CAD modeling for overall routing architecture and hardware integration. - Perform hands-on mechanical design and guide support teams and contractors in CAD routing for cables, piping, tubing, and associated hardware. - Lead architecture tradeoffs and guide component selection for valves, pumps, regulators, filters, gauges, manifolds, and sensors. - Define system interfaces, interlocks, and sequencing concepts aligned with industry standards such as SEMI-S2, ASME, and PED. - Support prototype build, system bring-up, integration testing, and debugging through high-volume production release.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience, Master's degree with 6+ years of experience, or Doctorate with 3+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. - Direct mechanical design experience with complex gas, water, cryogenic, or vacuum distribution systems. - Demonstrated background creating P&IDs, device lists, interface documentation, and system-level routing layouts. - Proficiency in fluid flow and thermal simulations. - Strong CAD skills covering routing, mechanical packaging, and hardware integration.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
