Redesign semiconductor inspection modules integrating Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) and High Voltage (HV) subsystems.

About the role

The Mechanical Design Engineer supports a major redesign of a semiconductor inspection module involving Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV), High Voltage (HV), precision mechanical assemblies, and electro-mechanical interfaces. The engineer is responsible for mechanical design, engineering analysis, documentation, prototype development, assembly support, supplier engagement, and product lifecycle support.

What you'll do

- Develop mechanical designs for UHV and HV subsystems, assemblies, and supporting hardware. - Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, engineering drawings, and BOMs using Creo/ProE or similar tools. - Apply GD&T principles, tolerance stack-up analysis, and error budgeting methodologies. - Conduct engineering analyses including structural, thermal, vibration, and finite element analysis (FEA). - Support prototype builds, assembly, integration, qualification testing, and troubleshooting activities. - Investigate failures, drive root-cause corrective actions, and work with suppliers on fabrication and manufacturability issues.

What you'll need

- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of related experience, Master's degree with 3+ years of related experience, or a Doctorate degree with 0+ years of related experience. - Understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, physics, and precision engineering. - Proficiency with 3D CAD platforms such as Creo/ProE. - Working knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and brazing.

Nice to have

- Experience designing assemblies operating in vacuum, UHV, or cleanroom environments. - Knowledge of high-voltage system considerations including insulation, creepage, clearance, and electrical interfaces. - Familiarity with vacuum-compatible materials, cleaning requirements, and contamination control practices. - Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and engineering simulation tools.
