About the role
Perform glass beading, coating chamber preparation, and related fiber optic manufacturing processes according to established work instructions. This role supports the optical coating department with equipment preparation, material handling, and routine maintenance in Santa Rosa, CA.
What you'll do
- Perform glass beading and related fiber optic manufacturing processes according to established work instructions and procedures. - Prepare, clean, foil, and maintain coating chambers and associated production equipment. - Support equipment preparation, material handling, line changeovers, and routine equipment maintenance. - Monitor production processes and perform visual inspections to identify abnormal conditions and verify specifications. - Accurately complete production records, checklists, logs, and electronic or paper documentation. - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S and company safety standards.
What you'll need
- High school diploma or GED. - Minimum 1 year of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment. - Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely handle tools, production materials, and chemicals. - Ability to perform repetitive production tasks, stand for extended periods, and maintain visual attention to small components. - Basic computer skills for completing electronic documentation and production logs.
Nice to have
- Experience in fiber optics, optical communications, cable manufacturing, electronics, semiconductor, or precision manufacturing environments. - Experience working with coating, extrusion, winding, or similar continuous manufacturing processes. - Experience with equipment cleaning, setup, changeover, or basic troubleshooting. - Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or other continuous-improvement practices. - Mechanical or technical training beyond high school.
