About the role
This role is responsible for coordinating manufacturing operations by managing lot start execution, lot dispatching, wafer-start allocation, material management, and outside processing for semiconductor manufacturing.
What you'll do
- Start new lots in the manufacturing execution system (MES) from released jobs, confirming approval in the weekly start plan.
- Move completed lots between process areas, checking system status and paperwork, and prioritizing hot lots.
- Track weekly wafer starts against approved allocation and provide data for planning reviews.
- Manage substrate and epitaxial wafer inventory, reporting shortages early and ensuring system-physical inventory alignment.
- Prepare and ship lots to outside vendors for processing, checking contents, packaging, and completing shipping records.
- Serve as the main operational contact for Planning, Engineering, material suppliers, and shift supervisors regarding lot starts, dispatching, and outside processing.
What you'll need
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years in semiconductor manufacturing, cleanroom operations, or a similar controlled production setting.
- Experience using a manufacturing execution system (MES) or ERP system to track and move lots and record transactions.
- Strong attention to detail, with accurate data entry and documentation.
- Knowledge of lot tracking, work-in-process (WIP) flow, lot priorities, and holds.
- Ability to handle and transport wafers safely, following cleanroom, ESD, and contamination-control requirements.
- Intermediate Excel skills for tracking, reconciling data, and reporting.
- Ability to meet cleanroom gowning requirements, stand and walk for long periods, and lift up to 25 lbs.
Nice to have
- Associate's degree or technical certificate in manufacturing, electronics, logistics, or a related field.
- Experience in wafer starts, material control, or production control in a semiconductor fab.
- Knowledge of compound semiconductor substrates and epitaxial materials.
- Experience shipping material to and receiving it from outside vendors.
- Understanding of inventory control practices and reconciling physical inventory against system records.
- Experience training others or covering as a backup in production support roles.

How we counted: 2412 open Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering (Manufacturing Equipment) roles from 77 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 9 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Process, Fab & Equipment family row.
