About the role
As Manager, Mechanical Design Engineering, you will lead a team responsible for the architecture, design, development, integration, and release of advanced semiconductor inspection and metrology systems. Your work will directly impact the metrology products within the Film and Scatterometry Technology (FaST) Division, which includes hardware and software solutions for optical film thickness, optical critical dimension (CD), composition, and resistivity measurement systems.
What you'll do
- Lead the design and development of complex mechanical and opto-mechanical subsystems for semiconductor capital equipment.
- Guide teams through complete product development cycles, including requirements definition, concept development, and detailed design.
- Drive application of Design-for-X (DfX) principles including manufacturability, reliability, and cost optimization.
- Manage engineering resources, schedules, budgets, priorities, and technical risks.

How we counted: 964 open Hardware Systems Engineering (AI ML Hardware) roles from 103 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 15 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
