About the role
The Component Engineering Manager leads the Component Engineering function responsible for component lifecycle management, change control governance, supply continuity, and technical risk mitigation across ASM's global product portfolio. This role serves as the key decision-maker and technical authority for component-related changes.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute strategies to proactively manage component lifecycle risks, including end-of-life (EOL), obsolescence, supply constraints, and single-source dependencies.
- Serve as the technical authority for component selection, qualification, and change management decisions.
- Drive consistency and compliance with corporate change management procedures and industry best practices.
- Lead cross-functional risk assessments and mitigation plans that protect manufacturing schedules, customer deliveries, and business continuity.
- Own the development and governance of component change communication packages, qualification reports, technical assessments, and customer notification documentation.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing global Component Engineering team.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 12+ years of experience in Component Engineering, Product Engineering, Supply Chain Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related semiconductor equipment industry role.
- 7+ years of leadership and team management experience.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and electromechanical components used in semiconductor capital equipment systems.
- Demonstrated experience managing engineering change processes, obsolescence programs, lifecycle management, and supplier-driven changes.
- Expertise in part standardization application and best practices.
- Extensive exposure to Configuration Management CMII practices.
- Hands-on experience with PLM systems such as the Teamcenter platform.
- Proficiency in component management software and supplier databases.
- Comprehensive understanding of industry regulations (e.g., RoHS, UL, IPC, ISO).
- Experience with ERP systems, including SAP S4 Hana and MRP platforms.
- Experience supporting Copy Exact methodology, New Product Introduction (NPI), and global manufacturing operations.
