About the role
The Lead Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the design, testing, and production ramp of Co-Packaged Optics and Optical Engine products. The scope includes Silicon Photonic (PIC) and electronic IC (TIA, driver, and micro-controller) co-design to achieve DC functionalities and high-speed performance.
What you'll do
- Drive Co-Packaged Optics and Optical Engine product design and testing activities from initial concept to production. - Develop Silicon Photonic (PIC) and electronics IC (including TIA, driver, and micro-controller) co-design to achieve DC functionalities and high-speed performance. - Perform simulations for signal integrity and power integrity analysis, alongside hands-on high speed signal validation, material de-embedding, and component characterization. - Conduct power delivery modeling, simulation, and characterization for die, package, board, and voltage regulators. - Review PCB stack-up and layer assignments for high-speed signals and PDN, while managing PIC and EIC interconnect schematics and layout design. - Collaborate with internal and external PIC and EIC suppliers to define product specifications, integration design rules, testing protocols, and failure analysis methodologies.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of experience in optical transceiver electrical design, Master’s degree with 10 years, or PhD with 7 years of experience. - Expertise in optical transceiver electrical and hardware design. - Experience with signal integrity simulation and power integrity analysis, including crosstalk, return loss, jitter, EMI, and power supply noise. - Experience with high-speed signal validation, analysis verification, material de-embedding, and component characterization.
