About the role
This internship involves designing, building, and testing portions of the EUV lithography light source and associated metrology systems. You will work on sub-systems encompassing robotics, mechatronics, precision mechanics, or opto-mechanics.
What you'll do
- Develop and document mechanical designs for EUV test systems from concept through fabrication and testing. - Create detailed CAD drawings, generate mechanical subsystem specifications, and analyze or select materials. - Calculate mechanical tolerance stack-ups, specifically assessing their effects on optical alignment. - Analyze the mechanical and thermal stability of optical assemblies using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and analytical tools. - Define test plans, execute prototype testing, and author comprehensive test reports. - Collaborate with optical, systems, and multidisciplinary engineering teams, as well as fabrication vendors.
What you'll need
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years completed. - Mechanical design exposure to kinematics, dynamics, material properties and behavior, and structural analysis. - Experience with 3D solid modelling for design conceptualization and realization. - Basic experience with mechanical analytical techniques, including first principle engineering equations and Finite Element Analysis (such as stress, strain, deformation, and modal response). - Ability to read and interpret optical and mechanical drawings. - Technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
Nice to have
- Background in mechanical design of mechatronics, precision design, or complex optical systems.
