About the role
The optical architecture group sits within system architecture at the interface of hardware development, manufacturing, and quantum architecture to design physical systems for fault-tolerant quantum computing. You will contribute to technical projects involving modeling, simulation, and software development for optical networks inside photonic quantum computers.
What you'll do
- Write prototype software implementations for controlling and simulating optical networks inside photonic quantum computers. - Apply results from quantum information theory, network design, and optimization to improve optical architecture designs. - Develop and discover new approaches and schemes for photonic quantum computation. - Translate abstract quantum information protocols into the designs of physical hardware systems. - Model quantum optical systems to determine hardware requirements, benchmark protocols, and document results.
What you'll need
- Currently studying or recently completed a postgraduate degree (PhD preferred) in Physics, Math, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent. - Experience programming in Python, C++, Julia, or similar languages. - Competent use of collaborative software development tools such as GitHub. - Ability to communicate technical findings and work closely with cross-functional architecture teams.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of quantum optics, photonic hardware, switch network design, optimization, or graph theory.
