This internship focuses on advanced monolithic millimeter-wave integrated circuits (MMICs), RF integrated circuits, and subsystems.
About the role
As an IC Test Engineering Summer Intern within the Keysight Labs/MMICs & Subsystems Organization, you will contribute to the development, characterization, and validation of advanced monolithic millimeter-wave integrated circuits (MMICs), RF integrated circuits, and subsystems.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute RF, microwave, millimeter-wave, and DC characterization tests for MMICs, RFICs, and advanced semiconductor devices.
- Support design validation activities for integrated circuits and subsystem technologies.
- Develop software tools, scripts, and automated test solutions to improve measurement efficiency, test coverage, and data quality.
- Analyze measurement data and prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with IC test engineers to define test requirements and verify circuit performance against design specifications.
- Troubleshoot measurement setups, instrumentation, test software, and hardware-related issues.
What you'll need
- Currently pursuing a Master's (MS) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Academic focus in one or more of the following areas: RF and microwave engineering, millimeter-wave systems, analog or mixed-signal integrated circuit design, electronic test and measurement.
- Hands-on laboratory experience with electrical measurements and instrumentation.
- Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar engineering software environments.
Nice to have
- Experience with RF, microwave, or millimeter-wave measurements.
- Familiarity with test equipment such as Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Oscilloscopes, and Source Measure Units (SMUs).
- Experience developing automated test software or data analysis tools.
- Knowledge of semiconductor device physics and MMIC technologies.
- Familiarity with on-wafer probing, calibration techniques, and semiconductor characterization methods.
- Experience analyzing large measurement datasets using Python, MATLAB, JMP, or similar tools.
- Research or project experience involving MMICs, RFICs, III-V semiconductor technologies, high-frequency circuits, or advanced electronic measurement systems.
