About the role
The HPC Storage Engineer designs, tests, and tunes storage systems powering compute- and data-intensive engineering workloads. This role sits within the Computational Solutions Infrastructure Group (CSIG) at KLA, focusing on production high-performance computing storage integrated into metrology and inspection systems.
What you'll do
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and support of high-performance storage configurations using NVMe, SSDs, RAID, and enterprise components.
- Collaborate with product, hardware, and HPC teams to integrate storage systems into shipped products and support new product introduction (NPI) and production ramps.
- Assist with storage qualification, hardware testing, and technical documentation.
- Execute storage benchmarks aligned to engineering workloads, evaluating I/O behavior, throughput, latency, and metadata performance.
- Troubleshoot storage, file systems, and performance issues within Linux environments.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience, Master's degree with 3 years, or Doctorate degree with 0 years.
- 2–4 years of experience in storage, systems, HPC, or infrastructure engineering.
- Hands-on experience working in Linux environments.
- Exposure to high-performance or enterprise storage systems and understanding of storage fundamentals (IOPS, latency, bandwidth).
- Familiarity with NVMe or SSD-based storage and RAID data protection concepts.
- Familiarity with parallel or distributed storage concepts (Lustre-like architectures).
Nice to have
- Exposure to HPC clusters or compute-heavy workloads.
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts related to storage.
- Experience supporting systems that ship to customers.
